SICILY, THE BLESSED LAND SELENE PENNETTA

Screening of Sicily, The Blessed land 3 part documentary.
Sicily, the biggest paradisiac island located at the centre of the Mediterranean caracterised by fascinating archaeological sites of absolute value and unique architectural works magnificently surrounded by a lush vegetation and by the stunning beauty of thousands of kilometres of coastline. All this beauty is concentrated in the biggest island of the Mediterranean area, the Sicily.

It is not a surprise if there is a belief that Sicily was the favoured land of ancient gods who walked the earth and were wooded like men.
During the 1950's, southern Italy was abandoned by at least one- quarter of the hard working people who at that time set their sights on the New World. They vacated that lovely land that time forgot in order to grow and blossom, returning only in their soul where their infinite love still burns.
The touching testimonials of those immigrants are remarkable and accurately portray the nostalgia and heroic courage of those uncommon people who describe this island as rich of fragrances, well-lighted by the sunshine and full of warmth.
“Sicily, The Blessed land” is  a  Georgicam Inc production written, directed and produced by Katalin Eszterhai. This docufilm was understood as a praise to all immigrants represented, in this case, by sicilians who reflect an extraordinary and respected concept of the italian being in the whole world.

Sicily in all its glory was captured by the award winning cinematographer George Lajtai, member of the Canadian Cinematographer Society ,as they returned to the villages and small towns: Raccalmuto, Siculiana, Delia, Termini Imerese, Custonaci, San Fratello, Cattolica Ereclea etc. where time did not stand still, there is comfort, prosperity and even luxury as men and women  both participated in its transformation and created a new, modern Sicily but, anyway, it remains the island of the sun, blessed with history, culture and warm people full of hospitality.

This film will be well presented by
Selene Pennetta, artist and researcher of Italian Culture who proudly takes care of the diffusion of Italian traditions through numerous activities for cultural competence development useful at the same time for improving our daily lifestyle.
